Traffic Building And The Friends You Make
You may find it interesting to note that traffic building may be most prosperous in off site strategies. You’ll notice I did not say off line, but off site.
The more time and effort you put into networking backlinks the more success you will have in traffic building.
You can and should work diligently at maintaining quality on site methods of traffic building, but if you do not spend time developing business relationships that can assist you in traffic building you may not be maximizing your assets.
Many business owners tend to operate as isolationists. The prevailing belief is that everyone is competition so adopting a mutually agreeable networking model does not often compute as a favorable business practice.
However, the Internet is a world of rapid clicks. If other businesses can list you as a link partner the trust extended by the consumer to that originating business would likely be tentatively extended to your business.
The logical conclusion to this sharing of online resources is not only enhanced traffic building, but also enhanced Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Search engines are especially fond of sites with extensive backlinks to their site.
Imagine your business at the center of a spider web with each thread attached in an ever-widening circle. For the search engines they can follow anyone of those outbound threads back to your site. It also indicates significant trust by each of those businesses that provided a backlink to your site. In essence, this leads the search engine to view your site as prominent, worthwhile and trusted.
The new paradigm in search engine results is to more closely align the results with what the consumer would find most valuable in a site. So a site that’s easily navigated, one that has strong evidence of knowledge-based content and is ‘approved’ by other online sites will rank more highly than a site that is struggling on alone.
Maybe it is the whole pyramid scheme businesses that make the thought of networking so repugnant to some. You know the kind of business that promises big payoffs for you when you get others involved. In the end, the whole pyramid collapses and only the fortunate few who were there in the beginning have any positive recollections of the process.
If that is your view of networking than I might suggest you substitute the word networking with either ‘friendships’ or ‘business associates’. After all, each of us could use more friends and helping each other in simple ways like backlinking is a significant gift to all involved.
If you want positive traffic building you should look first to your ‘friends’.
