Keeping Your Identity Safe
In this era of advancing technologies, your identity is definitely at risk of being stolen. Ever watch the movie “Firewall” played by Harrison Ford? If you do, you will know what I am talking about. Identity theft is quite a common sight nowadays that countries all over the world including U.K and the U.S have set up measures to make sure that every of their citizen is kept safe from such a crime. Anyone caught impersonating someone or “stole” someone’s identity faces heavy charges depending on how the law in their country deals with them. Usually, low profile citizens pose a higher risk of their identities being stolen.
The internet has set up measures for people to prevent their identities from being stolen. Some companies have set up websites on the internet in order to aid people in helping keep their identity safe from being stolen by undesirable thieves. Such companies include LifeLock, LoudSiren and TrustedID. These companies are set up to help protect their customers from their identities being stolen. Keeping one’s identity safe is something that they should care about. Imagine someone looking the same as you stepping right up your doorstep claiming that he is actually you. How would you feel? How would you react? What would you do after that?
Do people have nothing to do that they have to resort to stealing people’s identity? No, absolutely wrong. Every person that resorts to stealing must have something good to gain from it, otherwise they would not even bother doing it. People steal identities to reap benefits out of that identity that they stole. Imagine that Donald Trump is about to get a million dollars at a certain shopping mall as a reward from them. A person who is able to steal the identity of Donald Trump would be able to get there first and claim the money, then walk away as if he really was Donald Trump. Now, you see why keeping your identity safe is important?
Another example is, imagine that you have a long-distance relationship with a person from the opposite gender. Then he/she is about to fly to your country/state to meet you. An identity thief who is able to steal your identity could be able to make another arrangement with him/her and then gets away with it. Wouldn’t this be a blow to you? Identity thieves can even impersonate you and get your credit card details and use it all he/she wants. It’s like getting free money for something which they never even work for.
Back to LifeLock, LoudSiren and TrustedID. These are a few famous companies set up to insure their customers from their identities being stolen. If you feel that you need protection, these are the right places to go to. If you feel you don’t need them, do consider again. Would you want to risk your identity being stolen and then live on the streets one day, or would you get a 100% protection from your identity being stolen?
